State Championship Sites Finalized

The 3A and 4A volleyball tournament will be hosted at the Yakima Valley SunDome, moving from the Toyota Center in Kennewick where the event was held for the past three seasons. The SunDome will continue to host the 1B, 2B, 1A Volleyball Championships during the second weekend of November (Nov. 8-10, 2018), with the 3A, 4A Championships to follow on the third weekend of November (Nov. 16-17, 2018).

The State Gymnastics Championships will return to Sammamish High School after being held at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall since 1988. The three-day meet will move a week later in the winter calendar compared to its traditional date to coincide with the mid-winter break.

After a successful event in 2018, Battle Ground High School will continue to be the home of the State Cheerleading Championships for the next three years on the first Saturday of February (Feb. 2, 2019).

3A, 4A State Golf Format to Change

Beginning with the 2019 State Golf Championships, the 3A and 4A boys and girls classifications will move to a team format. Sixteen teams per classification will qualify for the Championships along with a minimum of 34 individuals from non-qualifying teams.

Each qualifying team will field five golfers, with the top four scores of each round contributing to the team score. After the first day of competition, the top eight teams will make the cut to the second day as will the top 20 individuals plus ties.
