Don Freeman

As a coach, Don Freeman’s accolades include several individual State Champions and All- Americans as well as numerous league and district titles in Gymnastics. Freeman has also received two WIAA State Championship titles and three USA U-16 World Championship Gold Medals as a baseball coach.

Freeman is a graduate of Renton High School. He attended Spokane Falls Community College and went on to earn his Bachelor’s from Eastern Washington University. He later attended Michigan State University where he received his Master’s in Education.

In 1972 Don Freeman began his coaching career at Battle Ground High School. During his time there, he coached a variety of sports including both mens and womens gymnastics and football. Freeman began coaching multiple sports at Prairie High School from 1979 to 2004. He spent over 20 years coaching womens gymnastics, football and baseball. Over the course of his career, he received five Coach of the Year awards from various sport and educational organizations.

Freeman showed a deep commitment to improving athletes, as well as coaches. He was the president of the Washington Mens Gymnastics Coaches Association from 1979 to 1983. Later, he served as an Executive Board member for the Washington Baseball Coaches Association from 1989 to 2004. In 1990 Freeman was elected president of the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association and served in this position for nine years. In addition to his positions held in various Coaches Associations, Freeman was a member of the USA Baseball National Team Trials Selection Committee from 2000-2012.

His more recent endeavors include coaching and promoting baseball internationally. He currently coaches the Berlin Flamingos, a German baseball club.
