Position: Seasonal | Athletics | Head Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach | 2023-2024
Location Seattle
Description Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for a Head Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach starting June 1, 2023. A team camp is scheduled for late June/early July. In addition to coaching the varsity team, there is a Middle School season in spring that will be directed by this person. The official season begins on Monday, August 21 with the state tournament ending on Saturday, November 18.

Responsibilities
This person, reporting to the director of athletics, will join an athletics program that includes 25 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The volleyball program includes two high school-level teams and at least four Middle School teams (mid-February to mid-April). This person is responsible for coaching the varsity team as well as oversight and coordination of the entire program.

Specific responsibilities include:
1. Compliance with all Lakeside School, Metro League, and WIAA policies and procedures.
2. Commitment to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes.
3. Supervision and instruction of student-athletes during team activities.
4. Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel.
5. Management of the team budget and hiring processes.
6. Development of the long-term vision for the volleyball program (scope & sequence);
7. In partnership with other volleyball coaches, development of practice plans for all teams.
8. Commitment to being a presence on campus all year.
9. Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.
10. Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student athletes.

Requirements and Qualifications
1. At least 25 years of age, have a clean driving record and a valid Washington state driver’s license.
2. Be available for all practices and competitions from 3 pm daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required.
3. Experience coaching volleyball at the club, high school or college level is required.
4. Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season current First Aid/CPR certification.?
5. Demonstration of cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the culture lenses they bring to interactions.
6. An understanding of different perspectives, the ability to interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks.
7. Candidates must provide proof of vaccination and booster to human resources. Candidates requesting a medical and/or religious exemption should reach out to Human Resources.
8. Candidates must satisfactorily complete three criminal background checks and possess (or obtain) a current First Aid and CPR certification prior to the start of their season.

Compensation
Stipend Range: $10,000 - $15,000
We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons.
