Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for a Athletics Public Announcer. Competitive seasons are scheduled to begin in early January and run until the end of June. Due to the pandemic, the competitive seasons could be shifted or shortened. The main sports covered are basketball, football, and volleyball, And there are other events (senior recognition) for many other sports. Required orientation meetings will be set when the competitive seasons are set. All candidates will submit an audition tape.
RESPONSIBILITIES This staff member, reporting to the director of athletics, will join an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. Lakeside Athletics strives to create professional-level events for home competitions which often include an announcer. Specific responsibilities include. - Compliance with all Lakeside School, Metro League and WIAA policies and procedures. - Commitment to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes. - Creation of scripts and planning of music for competitions. - Collaboration with athletics staff and coaches to create events that lead with sportsmanship and honor all athletes, fans, and officials. - Attendance at required program and interscholastic athletics program meetings. - Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes. - Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS - Availability for competitions throughout the year with availability on evenings and weekends as required. - Experience announcing at sporting events or similar events - Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives, interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks. - Satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.
COMPENSATION We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. The stipend is paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons. Other benefits include Lakeside Athletics apparel and access to funds for professional development.
