Description Located in southwest Washington, Onalaska is in the very competitive Central 2B League. Onalaska has enjoyed tremendous success in basketball and is well respected throughout the state of Washington.

Onalaska High School seeks a qualified individual to serve as the Basketball Program Head, a team member and leader who will be committed to establishing a winning program on and off the court.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The position of Program Head – Basketball will assist and lead all functions of the program. This will include:

• Work with the Athletic Director to vision a championship caliber program.

• Strive for excellence in competition - in the classroom and in the community.

• Grow and develop the varsity, junior varsity and C teams as one program. Oversee the youth programs K – 8. Build a K-12 program.

• Demonstrate a passion for coaching and deep knowledge of basketball skills and strategies.

• Build and lead a staff of coaches who are dedicated to developing young men.

• Communicate clearly – verbally and in writing – to all constituents.

• Serve in a leadership capacity at camps, off-season workouts, youth program events, and other duties as assigned.

• Seek continuing education opportunities in your sport (clinics, attending college practices, working camps, etc).

• Maintain compliance with Onalaska School District, Central 2B league, and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and other sport-specific rules and regulations.

Contact Information Successful candidates must be 21 years of age, possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, be available for all practices and competitions during the designated season and be available for regular meetings and other activities year-round.

Previous experience coaching at the high school or college level is preferred. Past high-level playing experience is preferred. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, complete Safe Environment training, submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or medical exemption and must possess or obtain prior to the start of their season, current First Aid and CPR certifications.

Work location varies based on practice and game schedule. This position requires one to be able to meet the physical demands of the sport.
