Position: Boys Basketball Program Head & Head Varsity Coach
Location Lakeside School
Description Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for a boys basketball program head and head varsity boys basketball coach starting June 2022. As boys basketball program head, this person will coordinate summer basketball camps in 2022. There will be hiring responsibilities and several meetings in the fall. The basketball season begins in November 2022 and concludes in early March 2023.

Responsibilities
The boys basketball program head and head varsity boys basketball coach, reporting to the director of athletics, will join an athletics program that includes 25 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The boys basketball program generally includes three teams (Varsity, JV, and JVC) at the Upper School and at least one team at each grade level at the Middle School. This program head and head varsity coach is directly responsible for the coaching of the varsity team as well as oversight and coordination of the entire program. Specific responsibilities include:
- Compliance with all Lakeside School, Metro League, CYO, and WIAA policies and procedures.
- Commitment to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes.
- Supervision and instructions of boys basketball student-athletes during all varsity team activities.
- Maintenance and inventory of boys basketball program equipment and apparel for the entire program (5-12).
- Development of boys basketball practice and competition schedules (5-12).
- Management and oversight of the boys basketball budget.
- Hiring and evaluating all assistant and sub-varsity coaches.
- Management and supervision of the coaching staff for Middle and Upper School teams.
- Management of the boys basketball summer camps and activities.
- Development of a long-term vision for the boys basketball program and the continual adjustment of a teaching curriculum to support that vision.
- Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.
- Attendance at faculty meetings when out of season.
- Attendance at monthly program head meetings led by the director of athletics.
- Participation in ad hoc committees created by the director of athletics and other school leaders to serve the school.
- Attendance at monthly meetings with the director of athletics when out-of-season.
- Commitment to being a presence on campus out of season.
- Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.

Requirements and Qualifications
- At least 25 years of age, with a clean driving record.
- Availability for all practices and competitions from 3pm daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required, including attending games at all levels within the program.
- Experience coaching basketball at the club, high school, or college level is required.
- Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives, interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks.
- Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.

Compensation
We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Program head stipends are paid in monthly installments over 12 months.
