Linda Sheridan 

Linda Sheridan won 849 games and matches coaching volleyball and basketball at Shadle Park High School in Spokane, Wash. Known as “Squat” by her players, Linda was a positive, energetic, and deeply personal coach. She constantly preached effort and teamwork, and taught unselfishness in order to achieve her team’s goals. Most importantly, she told her players to dream and dream big.

During 24 seasons as the Shadle Park volleyball coach, her teams were 482-99 and captured 10 GSL titles, qualifying for the State Tournament 19 times. Shadle Park won State Championships under her guidance in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, and 1993. They were also third twice and fourth twice. Her 1993 team was the first team to go through the State Tournament without losing a game.

She was equally successful as a basketball coach winning seven GSL titles and qualifying for the State Tournament 13 times while posting a 367-123 record in 20 seasons. Her 1988 and 1989 Shadle Park teams won State Championships, while the 1981 team was runner-up.

Between volleyball and basketball, Linda coached her teams to 32 State Tournaments, 17 Greater Spokane League Championships, and seven State Titles.

As the winningest coach in Spokane prep history, male or female, Linda was honored with the naming of the gymnasium at Shadle Park. Linda is also a member of the Inland Empire Sports Hall of Fame, Washington State University’s Sports Hall Of Fame, the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame and a recipient of The Pathfinder Award from NAGWS.
