2020-2021 Pole Vault Certification
WIAA handbook rule 20.4.1, D. mandates that “Hands-on” Pole Vault Coaches Training is required for Pole Vault Coaches. Coaches must be recertified every three (3) years with “hands on” training to be required the first year and either the “hands on” training or completion of WIAA-approved online courses in subsequent years.
At the December 15, 2020 Executive Board meeting, the board took action to allow recertification of three (3) years for pole vault training through the course on the NFHS website. For initial certification of first time coaches, in lieu of “hands on” training, the NFHS course will be effective through July 31, 2021 only. The Coaching Pole Vault course can be found at www.nfhslearn.com
Because of WIAA handbook rule 20.4.1.H.1.b, which requires that assistant coaches must be at least 19 years of age, certificates for completing a pole vault certification clinic and passing the test will be issued only to individuals who are at least 19 years of age.
