Dan White
Coach, Eastmont High School (1971-2003)

Dan was a three-year letter-winner in football and baseball, and a one-year letter-winner in basketball at Mark Morris High School. After high school, he played two years of football and baseball at Olympic Community College before transferring to WSU, where he lettered two years in football for the Cougars.

Dan was a teacher and the head baseball coach at Eastmont High School for 33 years (1971-2003). For the first 25 of those years, he was also the assistant varsity football coach (1971-1996). He became the Wildcats' Athletic Director following his coaching career (2003-2011). After being the athletic director for nine years, he took on his current role as the City of East Wenatchee Event Coordinator (2011).

During his coaching career, Dan’s teams had many accomplishments. He garnered 600 wins, second most in Washington state's high school baseball history.  His Wildcat teams had 31 winning seasons, dozens of combined league, district, and regional baseball titles, and nine final four appearances at State where they placed third, fourth, and captured one State Championship.

Dan was named State Baseball Coach of the Year twice, served as President of the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association for two terms, was an inductee into the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and served two terms as a WIAA Spring Sports representative. For 25 years, he was the Director of the WSBCA All-State Baseball Series. He had two players drafted, and 40 players who went on to play college baseball. Between 10-15 former players of Dan’s now coach at some school level in Washington state. In 1984, he was the USA Baseball Coach for the USA High School All-Stars vs. Japanese High School All-Stars, and was also  named the Western Region USA High School Baseball Coach of the Year. He was honored with the Big Nine Athletic Director of the Year Award (2010).

Since 2003, he has been a member of the WIAA District 6 Eligibility Committee. He has also been involved with several volunteer baseball fundraisers and clinics, and been an active member of the Lions Club for many years.

Regardless of the awards he earned, Dan always remained humble and focused on his students’ growth as individuals. His ethics, knowledge and love of being an educator and coach were exemplary.

He and his wife Jan have been married for over 40 years and have two children, Leslie and Mickey, who each have children of their own.
