Phil Carter Wilson High School, 1979
 A graduate of Wilson High School in 1979, Carter not only excelled in football, he also was a great wrestler and a phenomenal runner. He was a two-year letter in wrestling, earning 6th in state his junior year. He was also a three-year letter in track, winning a state championship his junior year and placing 4th in state in the 4x400 relay. Carter’s football accomplishments are what he most remembered for. He was a three-year letter in football; where he was named two-time All City performer. He twice received the Norm Mayer Award as the best player in city. In 1998, the Seattle Times named Carter as one of the ten best running backs in state history. Carter received a football scholarship to Notre Dame and finished his career as the 5th leading rusher in school history. He graduated from Notre Dame in 1983. Currently, he is the Executive Director of the MEl Korum YMCA in Puyallup, Washington. Previously he had worked several years as the downtown Tacoma YMCA Director. |
