Virginia Greenlee Coach
 Virginia Greenlee was instrumental in the beginning stages of volleyball. She hosted the first state invitational tournament in 1973 at Renton High School. Greenlee also hosted the first four official state tournaments. In 1977, Greenlee was selected as the Washington State Volleyball Coach of the Year. The Washington State Athletic Directors honored her in 1978 for her outstanding contributions to athletics. In 1979, she received the WIAA Service Award and was a nominee for National High School Coach of the Year. Greenlee further contributed to volleyball by serving as the assigning secretary of officials for the Seattle board from 1978 to 1988. Greenlee coached volleyball for six years at Renton High School and retired in 1978. Her teams won three league titles and one state championship. Her teams made four state appearances in her six years of coaching.
She was inducted into the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2006. In 1990, she was awarded the WIAA appreciation award for outstanding efforts and contributions to the schools and students of Washington. |
