Cheerleading is my passion and living in the small town of Bridgeport there are not many activities to chose from. This year was a very successful year although we had a rough start. Since my freshmen year, I have had a different coach each year; but each during their term, helped develop a stronger squad. This year my coach was Mrs. Pence.

Getting to travel with the boy’s football and basketball teams was one of many new opportunities we got. With our high spirits and loud cheers the boy’s basketball team made it to Regional’s, which had not been done in over 20 years! Also, we traveled to Seattle to be a part of the Spirit Extravaganza. At the Extravaganza we did a choreographed dance routine at a University of Washing ton game at the Century Link stadium! It was a big experience for our little squad to be cheering with 600 other cheerleaders from all over Washington and to be on national television. One thing we did for our community as a squad was have Cheer Camp. Our goal was to promote spirit among our younger generations as well as showing parents little things can make a big difference.

Due to the lack of budget and amount of participants, our squad does not compete, so we go all out at the pep assemblies along with games and half time performances. Chosen as Co-Captain for next year’s squad, we are already preparing and planning for a new and exciting year starting with tryouts the last week of August. Our seniors will be missed: Reyna R., Karla T., Bethany S., Raquel A., Nadia M.
