Bridgeport School District has been in existence for 100 years and everyone is gathering around for its celebration. During Homecoming and Senior Night the Bridgeport School District has been honoring those alumni that make it to that event which have been over 100 each time. Each alumni gets a button with the school's motto: “A Legacy of Life Long Learning.” Bridgeport High School also looked for the oldest alumni that graduated in 1939 and he also attended this great event making it much more memorable.

Bridgeport High School was a recipient of the 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 Washington Achievement Award: Extended Rate (2009: Overall Excellence and Language Art). Bridgeport has grown into a tight community where you know who all of your neighbors are making school a comforting place. The achievements of this school and these students are beyond expectations.

Catching the attention of the President of the United States in 2011, I would say, is one of the greatest rewards any school could get. During the 2011 Race to the Top Presidential Commencement Challenge, we became one of the top three finalists. The White House sent MTV to make a three minute biography of what we do at Bridgeport and the nation voted who would proceed. Because we made the top three, United States Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis participated with graduation and gave a speech.

Our high school has been ranked 8th in the nation as a Top 10 Transforming High School by 2012-13 Newsweek “Americas Best High Schools”. Overall the community takes pride in the ability of our students and we all recognize our opportunity in this school regarding the AP and College classes offered. This being a low-income community, those credits a student gets to take along to college really makes a big difference! These milestones could not have been achieved without the determination of each student to follow the school's motto!

As a student in the middle of my senior year getting ready for college next year, I feel completely prepared! All the courses I have taken have lead me to having more the 30 college credits, almost qualifying me as a sophomore at WVC. I am thankful for the opportunity I have had at Bridgeport High school and I think any student should take advantage of this type of opportunity if they can!
