5/5/2011

RENTON, Wash. – Tumwater’s Athletic Director Tim Graham was selected to the WIAA Executive Board District 4 position, the Association announced Thursday.  Graham will fill the final year of former Executive Board member Henry Karnofski’s term.

Graham, in his 13th year as the Athletic Director at Tumwater High School, has been involved in high school athletics throughout his tenure in secondary education.  He was the head baseball coach for the Thunderbirds as well as an assistant in wrestling and football for seven years.  Graham also taught math for seven years before becoming the athletic director.

He has served on many boards and committees including the District 4 Executive Board, Washington Secondary School Athletic Administrators Association Executive Board and the WIAA Representative Assembly.

Prior to teaching at Tumwater, Graham spent five years at Eagle Point High School in Eagle Point, Ore.  He attended college at Southern Oregon, where he earned his mathematics degree in 1988.  He continued his education at City University where he received his master’s degree in 1994.

The WIAA Executive Board is comprised of 13 school or athletic administrators from WIAA member schools or school districts. The Board consists of representatives from each of the nine WIAA districts, three regional members and one at-large representative.

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association is a private, nonprofit 501 (c)(3) service organization and rule-making body that was formed in 1905 to create equitable playing conditions between high school sports teams in Washington.   The Association consists of nearly 850 member high schools and middle/junior high schools, both public and private, and is divided into nine geographic service districts. The state staff administers Association policies, rules and regulations and provides other assistance and service to member schools.
